OREANDA-NEWS. According to the German Ambassador to Russia Geza Andreas von Geir, the expulsion of a diplomatic officer of the FRG embassy from Russia caused bewilderment.

The Russian-German Chamber of Commerce (VTP) together with the German Embassy in Moscow on Tuesday met with the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov in the Dialogue with the Governor format, at which they discussed, among other things, issues related to the investment potential of the region.

Gair told the meeting that a German embassy official was expelled from Russia last Friday. He wants to emphasize that "this caused a very serious bewilderment. Moreover, this employee did not commit any faults on the territory of the Russian Federation. It is also noteworthy that this happened during the visit of the EU high representative for foreign policy to Russia, and this doubles the effect of such a step."

The German Ambassador to Russia stressed that if we talk about the future, it is necessary that "political existence develops in a proper way."

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that three diplomats from Sweden, Poland and Germany who participated in uncoordinated actions in Russia were declared persona non grata and would have to leave the country in the near future. We are talking about the diplomatic staff of the consulates general of Sweden and Poland in St. Petersburg and the German embassy in Moscow. In response, these countries announced the expulsion of three Russian diplomats.
