OREANDA-NEWS. Governor Valery Limarenko told reporters on December 8 that the government of the Sakhalin Region will propose to VEF.RF a project to create an ecologically clean city near the port of Korsakov.

As Valery Limarenko said, the project city could have an area of 1.2 thousand hectares, a population of 25 thousand people, about 1 million square meters. m of housing can be built there. The regional government considers this idea interesting, and is going to make a master plan for this city. The authorities will be running an international competition to attract professionals from all over the world.

According to the head of the region, we are talking about the construction of a city near the port of Korsakov, in the infrastructure of which the most modern technologies will be concentrated, including unmanned transport. "I must say that there are such precedents in the world, several such cities have been built in different countries of the world. The same city could arise in Russia, and it would be built not for state money, but for investors' money," Limarenko said following the results working trip to the region of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.

According to the head of the region, it is expected that the city will attract specialists from all over Russia and help in the development of the logistics industry on Sakhalin.
