OREANDA-NEWS. The chairman of the World Medical Association Frank Ulrich Montgomery called for increasing pressure on German residents who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus. «In order to stop the fourth wave, before the situation becomes critical, it is necessary to introduce the “2G rule” throughout Germany, where possible», Montgomery told the media of the Funke Mediengruppe concern on Thursday, September 9.

According to him, it is unlikely that it will be possible to increase the level of vaccination with the help of mobile points. In accordance with the «2G rule», only people who have been vaccinated and who have had COVID-19 will be able to visit restaurants and other public institutions.

In places where it is almost impossible to exclude the unvaccinated, such as in public transport, a stricter «3G rule» should be applied, Montgomery noted. «Those who have not been vaccinated will have to submit an PCR test», he said, adding that a simple rapid test will not be enough. According to Montgomery, this may serve as an incentive to get vaccinated.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn on the eve again called on all residents of Germany who have not yet been vaccinated against coronavirus to get vaccinated. «Each vaccination decides how safely we will survive the autumn and winter. Meanwhile, now we are seeing a pandemic of the unvaccinated», he said on Wednesday, September 8, in Berlin, noting that the proportion of patients unvaccinated from covid in intensive care units currently ranges from 90 to 95 percent.
