Earlier, on December 30, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, announced that a test system had been created in Russia to identify the Omicron strain. This technique will increase the efficiency in the process of detecting this variant of the disease, Popova clarified.
The head of the department also said that post-vaccination immunity after the Russian Sputnik V vaccine is sufficient to curb the spread of the Omicron strain.
In Russia, over the past day, 17,525 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in 85 regions. This was reported on January 11 at the infection control operational headquarters.
