OREANDA-NEWS. The bill on mandatory QR codes is currently in the works, experts will discuss all the nuances, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The bill is now in work. And this topic is now being worked out both in the relevant commissions and at the expert level, so all the nuances will have to be discussed during the expert study," Peskov said in response to a question whether there are fears of an increase in social tension in the Kremlin and economic risks due to the promising introduction of mandatory QR codes.

On November 12, the government of the Russian Federation submitted to the State Duma two bills, which imply the introduction of QR codes for visiting public places, as well as for travel by rail and air. Prior to the discussion of bills in the State Duma, the regions must submit their responses to them, after which the State Duma Committee on Healthcare will begin to consider them and prepare for the first reading.

The first document assumes that citizens will be able to visit places of public events, cultural institutions, catering and retail facilities with the presentation of either a QR code on vaccination, or a document confirming that a person has had a coronavirus, or a medical withdrawal from vaccination. According to the second initiative, QR codes are being introduced in rail and air transport for intercity and international transport.
