OREANDA-NEWS. The Kremlin did not "pull back" the heads of Russian regions in their desire to offer Elon Musk their sites for launching the production of Tesla electric vehicles. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

On May 21, Musk said that Tesla could soon enter the Russian market and open its own production in the country. The Ministry of Industry and Trade invited the businessman to Moscow to discuss the construction of the plant.

After that, the heads of the Kaluga, Sverdlovsk, Vladimir, Rostov regions and Udmurtia proposed to build a plant on their territory. Meanwhile, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, said that he would not invite Tesla to him, since the region already has its own production. And the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, told RIA Novosti that Musk has nothing to offer Russia in terms of automotive production.

Peskov said that the Kremlin did not "pull back" the governors who staged a "competition." At the same time, according to him, the governor's job is to increase the investment attractiveness of his region. Some heads of regions, in his opinion, have succeeded in this.
