OREANDA-NEWS. The Supreme Land Court in the lower Saxon city of Celle on Wednesday, February 24, sentenced Ahmad Abdulaziz Abdullah A., also known as Abu Walaa, to 10.5 years in prison. He was found guilty of membership in a foreign terrorist group, financing terrorism, as well as preparing a terrorist attack.

Three more people, together with whom Abu Walaa organized the sending of young people from Germany to the Middle East to participate in combat operations on the side of terrorists, received sentences from 4 to 8 years.

Abu Walaa, a 37-year-old Iraqi-born jihadist preacher, was arrested in November 2016 along with four alleged accomplices on charges of supporting the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. According to investigators, he was a key figure among the Islamists in Germany and was in direct contact with the leadership of the IG.

Earlier, the native of Tajikistan received seven years in prison for participating in the «Islamic State». He was convicted in Dusseldorf a month ago. According to investigators, a 31-year-old man from Wuppertal planned terrorist attacks and other terrorist attacks in Germany and Albania together with a terrorist cell, that also included people from Tajikistan.
