OREANDA-NEWS. One of the employees of the Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic was detained by Czech special services while trying to illegally acquire a large number of ammunition, including cartridges for sniper rifles.

This was reported by Czech Radio, citing several sources, including people from the secret service and diplomatic circles. According to them, the arrest was carried out on June 25 by the National Center for Combating Organized Crime in the town of Ricany near Prague.

According to Czech Radio, a man who spoke Czech with a Russian accent was handcuffed during arrest, but later officers had to release him. “He had a diplomatic passport. After checking, he had to be released,” one of the sources said. The detainee was a civilian employee of the military department of the Russian Embassy, ​​and the law enforcement agencies investigating the case consider him a secret agent of the Main Directorate of the Russian General Staff, a military special service formerly known as the Main Intelligence Directorate. Interlocutors of journalists reported that immediately after release, the man left the Czech Republic.
