OREANDA-NEWSRebecca Ross, press officer of the US Embassy in the Russian Federation, told about what the new American Ambassador John Sullivan is going to do in her free time.

“In fact, Sullivan is a hockey fan! And I heard that he’s even going to play hockey in Russia when he will allow time”, she wrote in the comments to the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Twitter, in which Sullivan was invited to “plunge headlong” into Russian realities, as his predecessor John Huntsman did.

Ross accompanied her response with the hashtag #hockeydiplomacy, which means "hockey diplomacy" in English. Sullivan is expected to arrive in Moscow today. The previous U.S. ambassador, John Huntsman, resigned in early August 2019. Huntsman worked in Russia for two years. In January 2018, shortly after his appointment, he took part in Epiphany bathing in the New Jerusalem Monastery near Moscow, after which he told reporters that he had gained an unforgettable experience when he became acquainted with this Russian tradition.
