OREANDA-NEWS. The prosecutor's office, during the debate in the Preobrazhensky District Court of Moscow, requested two years of restriction of freedom for the Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina. The girl is being held accused in the «sanitary case».

The prosecution asks the court to find the activist guilty of inciting a violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that created a threat of mass coronavirus disease (part 4 of Article 33, part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code). The prosecution is talking about a rally in support of Alexey Navalny, which took place on January 23.

Now Alyokhina is under house arrest. This measure was announced to her on January 29. In July, the court extended it until September 8, 2022. Alyokhina does not admit guilt.

Several other defendants have already been sentenced in the «sanitary case»: Dani Akel was fined 100 thousand rubles, Lyubov Sobol — restriction of freedom for a year and a half, Nikolai Lyaskin — a year of restriction of freedom, Oleg Navalny — a year of probation, Kira Yarmysh — a year and a half of restriction of freedom, Oleg Stepanov — a year of restriction of freedom. At the same time, the charges were dropped from the municipal deputy Konstantin Yankauskas.

«Sanitary case» is a criminal case on violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules at a rally on January 23 in Moscow in support of opposition leader Alexey Navalny. Among the accused are supporters and associates of Navalny, as well as opposition activists. The investigation claims that the organizers of the event created a «threat of mass illness» and incited participants to violate sanitary standards.
