OREANDA-NEWS. Rosmorrechflot told RIA Novosti that the headquarters of the operational management of Rosrybolovstvo decided to continue the search operation in the area of the Onega trawler wreck in order to establish the exact place of the ship's wreck and find the bodies of the sailors.

At the same time, the department previously stated that it had been decided to stop the search, since there is no longer "a reasonable hope of finding the crew members alive", and the vessels involved in their search are already returning to their places of stay or to the fishing industry.

However, after the decision to continue the search, the rescue ships Antias and Kapelan returned to the area of the Onega accident. The rescue vessel of the Federal Agency for Fishery "Mikola" also joined the operation.

The Russian fishing vessel Onega is reported to have sank on December 28 in the Barents Sea. Of the 19 crew members, only two managed to survive. According to preliminary data, severe icing of the hull played a fatal role. Experts suggest that the trawler capsized, lifting the haul-line. The fishermen on the deck were literally washed away into the sea.

The Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrei Chibis, promised that the families of the victims would be paid 1 million rubles each.
