OREANDA-NEWS. The Supreme Court of Russia has rejected a class-action lawsuit to abolish the mandatory mask regime in the country, introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, Russian media
«RIA Novosti» reports.

The claim to Rospotrebnadzor was filed by almost one and a half thousand people from different regions of Russia. During the session of the Supreme Court, the representative of the plaintiffs, Alexander Saversky, stated that the masks harm the health of people with chronic diseases such as asthma, and also negatively affect people with cognitive disabilities.

«Deaf people read lips — we have deprived them of this opportunity», the lawyer said.
In his opinion, masks give a false sense of security, which is why people can neglect other means of prevention. Saversky even spoke of a «medical dictatorship where the right to health suppresses other civil rights».

The representative of Rospotrebnadzor, in turn, called the arguments of the plaintiffs subjective and emotional, noting that the norms approved by the chief sanitary doctor do not violate the rights of citizens of the Russian Federation. Her opinion was supported by the representative of the Prosecutor General's Office, who participated in the process as an independent party.

Many of the plaintiffs were not allowed to attend the hearing because they refused to wear masks in the courthouse.
