OREANDA-NEWS. The United Nations Organization thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for offering the Russian vaccine for its staff. This was reported to TASS news agency by Stephane Dujarrick, a spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. “We thank President Putin for his generous offer, which will be examined by our medical service,” he said.

Putin, speaking at the UN General Assembly on September 22, said that the Russian Federation is ready to provide free vaccine to the employees of the world organization. The politician noted that requests on this issue had been already received by the Russian side.

In mid-August, Putin announced the registration of Russia’s first vaccine against coronavirus, developed by the Gamaleya National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Ministry of Health. The medication was named Sputnik V.
