OREANDA-NEWS. Agence France-Presse reports about the clashes on the border of China and India in the Himalayas. According to journalists, there are dead – at least among Indians.

The incident occurred in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Indian side informed about three dead and claimed that there are also victims among Chinese military.

During the de-escalation process taking place in the Galwan Valley, there was a fierce confrontation, a spokesman for the Indian Army reported. “A violent face-off took place yesterday night with casualties on both sides. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers,” he said, adding that high-ranking military of both sides are currently meeting to defuse the conflict situation.

The Chinese side does not report about dead or wounded, but blames the Indian troops for the clash. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that the Indian forces “crossed the border line twice… provoking and attacking Chinese personnel, resulting in serious physical confrontation between border forces on the two sides.”
