OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump has signed a decree on reforming the country’s police.

First of all, the document provides for serious restrictions on the use of asphyxiation methods by officers. Using it led to the death of Afro-American George Floyd during his detention in Minneapolis, which provoked mass protests and unrest in a number of cities of the United States. Now, American cops have a right to use strangulation only if their lives are in danger.

In addition, a national database with information on officers who used illegal methods against detainees will be created.

To resolve the conflicts peacefully, Trump ordered to allocate grants for policemen’s training.

According to the decree, employees of social services and psychologists can now work with American policemen. They can be attracted when cops are called to the homeless, people suffering from mental disorders or various addictions.

It is known that during the signing of the document, Trump expressed condolences to the relatives of those who died from police violence.
