OREANDA-NEWS. The newspaper Daily Sabah reported that Turkish special services have detained a deputy managing director and five employees of the company Bosphorus Gaz, a major buyer of Russian gas, which was owned by the Russian energy corporation Gazprom until 2018.

According to the publication, investigators believe that the main suspect has maintained contacts with three representatives of a foreign company since at least April 2020 and provided them with information about the volume of gas purchases by Turkey and prices. The damage from her actions could amount to billions of dollars.

According to some media reports, the mentioned foreign company may be Gazprom. It is assumed that the Russian monopolist could be interested in data on a gas field discovered by Turkey in the Black Sea.

Journalists, citing sources, inform that the spy scandal could threaten negotiations on the extension of contracts for the supply of Russian gas to Turkey.
