OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that authorities agreed with the International Monetary Fund to increase the amount of funds allocated under the new program of support from 5 billion to 8 billion US dollars.

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that the Fund and Ukraine had made progress on further financial support for Kiev. She noted that the adoption of laws improving the conditions of bank readjustment and concerning land reform will allow to quickly move forward in the final determination of the parameters of a new agreement.

According to Zelensky, the first tranche may amount to 2 billion dollars, if a new program is signed. Yt added that assistance to Ukraine from the IMF, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development may total at least 10 billion dollars. The politician also mentioned of negotiations for support with Azerbaijan and Canada.
