OREANDA-NEWSUkraine is currently not considering the possibility of returning its ambassador to Russia. This is stated in the official response of the country's Foreign Ministry to the request of the Ukrainian news publication. "At the moment, it's not planned to fill the vacant post of head of the diplomatic institution of Ukraine in the Russian Federation", the document says.

The response of the Ukrainian department also stated that "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has not received requests for agreman from the Russian side". In case of receiving notes from Moscow with a request for agrement, Kiev intends to act in accordance with established international practice, the Foreign Ministry noted.

Earlier, the ministry said that Kiev was coordinating the candidacies of ambassadors to 13 of 19 countries where they are not present at present, but which countries are specifically mentioned. As stated in today's statement, "the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine did not submit to the President of Ukraine an opinion regarding the candidacy for appointing his ambassador to Russia".

After the coup in Ukraine in 2014, Kiev recalled the ambassador in Moscow. Russia recalled the ambassador to Ukraine in 2016. Nevertheless, the embassies of the two countries continue to work in both capitals.
