OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to allocate this year more than 2.4 billion hryvnas (about 98 million US dollars) for the purchase of about 3 thousand missile systems. This was reported on February 21 by UNIAN news agency with reference to the message of the Ministry.

Announced amount is 300 million hryvnas more than was allocated for the missile programme in 2019.

The funds are planned to be used to complete the development and conduct tests of the Ukrainian Neptune and Vilkha missile complexes. After these systems are tested and adopted, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine intends to order for mass production.

Financing the defense sector in Ukraine in 2020 will amount to 5.45 % of gross domestic product, or 246 billion hryvnias, which is 15 % more than in 2019.
