OREANDA-NEWS. US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Kelly Craft, called on the UN Security Council members to support the American draft resolution on the extension of the arms embargo against Iran, which was introduced on August 12.

The statement is published on the website of the US mission. “Iran’s actions fuel conflict, chaos, and human suffering on a broad scale. It continues to endanger the lives and livelihoods of millions of innocent men, women, and children by actively supporting proxy groups and terrorist organizations in countries like Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq. […] I call upon all Security Council members to wake up to the real-world implications of allowing this arms embargo to lapse,” the message reads.

However, it is already known that if the resolution is put to a vote, the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China will veto it.
