OREANDA-NEWS Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin are perceived by citizens as sanctions against the people, commenting on the statement by US President Joe Biden about the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Russian president.

"Finally, the US leadership has openly said what it wants: Washington wants a loyal and controlled President of Russia. The methods of achieving this goal are well known to us: sanctions, provocations, information attacks. Nothing new," the speaker of the State Duma wrote in his Telegram-channel.

Vyacheslav Volodin added that the American president does not like the fact that Russia has become strong under Vladimir Putin. In particular, he does not like that the Russian president did not allow the collapse of the country, stopped the war in the Caucasus, made the country economically independent and sovereign, pursues a policy in the interests of its citizens, strengthened the defense capability, forced to reckon with Russia.

"But in the understanding of the citizens of our country, these are sanctions not against Putin, but against the choice of the people of the Russian Federation. You won't be able to do it. All your actions are hostile to our state - Russia. That became obvious to everyone," concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.

Earlier, the Russian permanent mission to the UN accused the United States of taking a destructive position on the Ukrainian problem, spreading false information and inflating Russophobia.
