Volume of Orders from sub-Saharan Africa for Russian Weapons Reached $ 2 Billion

OREANDA-NEWS. The volume of the portfolio of orders of sub-Saharan Africa for Russian defense products exceeded $ 2 billion. This was announced to the Russian media during the summit and the international economic forum Russia-Africa by the director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugaev.
"More than $ 2 billion of the total portfolio of orders of African countries, which amounts to $ 14 billion, falls on sub-Saharan Africa", said Shugaev. According to him, military-technical cooperation with African countries has been developing dynamically over the past five years. "The states of this region annually account for 30-40% of Russia's arms exports", the head of the department said.
According to Shugaev, an increase in contacts at all levels, including meetings of heads of state, representatives of military departments and defense industry enterprises, gives positive dynamics to cooperation at the international level.
