OREANDA-NEWS. The spread of the coronavirus infection in the world is accelerating, despite the improvement of situation in some states. This was announced on Twitter by the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

According to him, some countries have faced an increase in registered cases when opening their economies and returning to public life. The head of the organization noted that most people still remain vulnerable to the virus. Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote that measures imposed by authorities “have been successful in slowing the spread of the virus,” but “have not completely stopped it.”

WHO chief also added that June 30 marks exactly six months since the first reports of the spread of the virus in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Over this period, the number of confirmed cases of infection in the world has reached 10 million, and the number of deaths has already reached 500 thousand.
