The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomes all the advances in research and development of a vaccine against coronavirus infection, but its experts want to examine data on the tests of the new drug. This is stated in the message of the organization received by RBC news agency. This is how WHO commented on the registration of the first vaccine against COVID-19 in Russia, which was announced by President Vladimir Putin on August 11.

The organization noted that vaccine research should be conducted in accordance with established procedures at every stage of development to ensure the safety and efficacy of drug. The WHO added that its specialists are in contact with Russian scientists and the country’s authorities and are waiting for the opportunity to analyze information on vaccine trials.

The registered medication was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. It is assumed that it will enter the civil circulation from January 1, 2021.
