OREANDA-NEWS. Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), thanked Russia for developing a vaccine against coronavirus of a new type.

According to TASS news agency, he said this after a meeting with the Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko. WHO highly appreciates the efforts that the Russian Federation has made to develop Sputnik V, vaccine against COVID-19, he said. “Once again, I want to thank Russia for its excellent efforts to create a safe and effective vaccine,” Kluge added.

Interfax information agency reported that on September 21 Kluge also met with the head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of the Russian Federation, Anna Popova. At the meeting, Kluge expressed confidence that the results of the third stage of the Russian vaccine study would be positive.
