OREANDA-NEWS. The World Health Organization (WHO) believes that humanity needs to prepare for a new pandemic. This was announced in a statement by the organization, distributed on the eve of the forum of the 73rd annual session of the World Health Assembly.

“We’ve seen this past year that countries with robust health emergency preparedness infrastructure have been able to act quickly to contain and control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus,” the statement says. The WHO notes that the world community needs to prepare for a new pandemic. The need to ensure adequate remuneration for health professionals is emphasized. According to the WHO, it should be also ensured that all countries are better equipped to detect COVID-19 and respond to the spread of this and other dangerous infectious diseases.

Earlier, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed opinion that the coronavirus pandemic is not the last, and the world should prepare in advance for a new one.
