OREANDA-NEWSRussian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the words of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who called possible US sanctions against Iraq "not very useful". Zakharova left a corresponding comment on her page on Facebook.

Deputies of the Council of Representatives (Parliament) of Iraq at an emergency meeting on Sunday adopted a resolution in which "they obliged the government to put an end to the military presence of foreign forces in the republic and stop work under the security agreement concluded with the forces of the international anti-terrorist coalition". The document was approved with a quorum, but in the absence of Sunni and Kurdish factions.

The meeting was held against the backdrop of a sharp aggravation of the situation in the country after a series of American attacks on Iraq.
