OREANDA-NEWS The simplified procedures for granting the IT investors the right of residence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova were approved in Parliament.

According to the draft law, the IT investors will be able to conduct their business without needing a temporary residence permit. At the same time, the document aims at creating a facile legal framework for certain categories of people who work in IT area - persons responsible for the management, investors and highly qualified specialists, concerning their access and residence on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The only condition is that the purpose of entry and stay on the territory of the Republic of Moldova shall be determined by the activities in the area of Information Technology.

„The IT industry has a secure development perspective in the Republic of Moldova, particularly, with the entry into force of the Law on IT parks. The share of the ICT sector in the national GDP is about 8%, but the information technology industry has an infirm rate of about 1% of the GDP, thus, the purpose of the initiative is to promote the potential of our country in the area of IT, by attracting investments in this area, highly qualified workforce, but first of all, by attracting the advanced technologies”, theDeputy Minister of ITC Vitalie Tarlev underlined.

According to the Deputy Minister, first of all, the draft Law will stimulate the attraction of foreign investments, also, it will lead to the creation of a favourable environment for the development of the IT industry, development of new skills and knowledge, innovation and enhanced economic opportunities for our country and will contribute to fostering investment flows on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

The legislative amendments were discussed with the development partners and were drawn up under the Law on IT parks and the achievement of the objectives established through the Strategy on enhancing the competiveness of the IT industry for the years 2015 -2021.
