OREANDA-NEWS. The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States reported about a threat to the Pentagon from the spy program Drovorub for Linux developed by the group Fancy Bear. NSA and FBI link hackers with Russian intelligence services.

“The Russian General Staff Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) 85th Main Special Service Center (GTsSS) military unit 26165, whose activity is sometimes identified by the private sector as Fancy Bear, Strontium, or APT 28, is deploying malware called Drovorub, designed for Linux systems as part of its cyber espionage operations,” a joint statement of the two agencies reads.

Earlier, the American authorities accused members of the group Fancy Bear of hacking the e-mail of Democratic Party workers before the presidential election in 2016, hacking the database of the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2014, as well as the servers of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma to search for compromising material on the US presidential candidate Joe Biden.
