OREANDA-NEWS. This week at Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle honored the winners of the 2016 Oracle Cloud Platform Innovation Awards. This prestigious group of recipients is using Oracle’s PaaS and IaaS services in new and innovative ways to transform their businesses, drive innovation and gain a competitive advantage.

Thirty-one customers were chosen from around the world, spanning small and medium businesses to the largest enterprise, across a wide range of industries. Part of the Oracle Excellence Awards, the Cloud Platform Innovation Awards is an annual awards program recognizing customers for their cutting-edge solutions using Oracle’s PaaS and IaaS services. Recipients of Oracle’s Platform Innovation Awards were selected based on the uniqueness of their business case, business benefits, level of impact relative to the size of the organization, complexity and magnitude of implementation and the originality of architecture.

HCPA Chose Oracle Cloud at Customer for Running Business-Critical Healthcare Workload

Hospital de Cl?nicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA) is a leading hospital in Brazil with 850 beds. It is well known for transplants and genetic research in Latin America and conducts over 600,000 consultations a year. Oracle Cloud at Customer allowed HCPA to run applications that handle healthcare data on their premises and enabling low latency connections to other on-premises applications.

“By moving to Oracle’s Cloud at Customer infrastructure with subscription based pricing, HCPA was able to immediately cut back $2.5MM in CapEx expense, and foresee additional savings as more workloads are moved to Cloud at Customer,” said Valter Silva, CIO, HCPA. “Oracle Cloud at Customer is fully managed by Oracle. As a result, HCPA has also significantly reduced our IT operating and staffing costs.”

IDEA Cellular Chose Oracle PaaS to Help Prevent Outages in its Most Mission-Critical Applications

IDEA Cellular, one of India’s leading wireless telecommunication providers, is using Oracle Management Cloud to help prevent potential outages and also to increase performance and efficiency of its mission-critical applications. Using Oracle Management Cloud, IDEA Cellular is able to monitor its Oracle and third-party applications to rapidly identify the root cause of problems before they become potential problems.
