OREANDA-NEWS. Within the scope of the largest in Russia and Eastern Europe accelerator for technology startups – GenerationS – RVK JSC (Rossijskaja Venchurnaja Kompanija) together with the TechNet workgroup of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) will hold a series of technology contests.

The contests are held for the companies - members of the TechNet workgroup. The purpose of the contest is to draw attention to the key technological directions most important for the Russian industry and to define priorities in development of industrial technologies based on Russian technology leading companies.

As of today the first two contests with the tasks to use and create advanced manufacturing technologies have been declared: optimization of the bracket with respect to weight and development of alternative methods of the aircraft engine bearing housing manufacture.
Potential participants of the contest are students, post-graduate students, scientific employees, technological entrepreneurs and engineering bureaus. In November the leaders of the TechNet workgroup will determine the winners that will get money prizes in the amount of RUB 100,000 to 150,000. Besides, the contestants with the highest grades will have the opportunity to continue collaboration with the NTI workgroup companies.

”Both tasks that we have selected for the contest are not accidental but typical enough for the hi-tech companies. It will not take long for their solution to become an everyday routine. As for the competitors this is a way to evaluate their competitiveness”, says Dmitry Ivanov, Director of NPO Saturn Innovative Development and Member of the TechNet workgroup. “One of the tasks, i.e. development of the procedure for the bearing housing assembly, is among technological challenges. All in all there are not more than three companies in the world that can solve such a problem. Therefore, this is a way of checking the level of contestants’ skills. Their work will be assessed by the specialists of the companies included in our workgroup. Alongside with the assessment, partners for further joint work will be selected or future employees will be recruited”.

“Such contests are very important for the involvement of highly trained specialists for generation of original ideas to solve various corporation tasks”, Gulnara Bikkulova, RVC Deputy General Director responsible for development and GenerationS ideologist says. “Within the scope of GenerationS we are planning to start a line of similar contests for our partners among the corporations, because this is the easiest way of the skilled specialists and technologies involvement in the sphere of influence of the company. We hope that people from various spheres of life will become participants of the contests: engineers, designers, marketologists, students, and their joint creative work will result in the projects that might be applied in large Russian companies”.
