OREANDA-NEWS. On September 10 at the conference Developer 2020, the Chinese company Huawei presented the operating system Harmony 2.0.

As the head of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, said, the mobile version of Harmony with open source will be available at the end of 2020, first for Chinese developers, and then for everyone else. Harmony 2.0 was created as a replacement for Google’s Android mobile operating system for smartphones, Yu noted. It follows from the presentation that the developers of the new system have focused on synchronizing smart devices with each other. According to Yu, the company has tried to create such operating system so that Chinese and foreign companies can develop popular applications for it, such as ByteDance’s TikTok.

Yu also noted that from today, the Harmony’s code will be open to developers of Internet of things devices with memory from 128 kilobytes to 128 megabytes. In April 2021, the company will open the code for devices with storage capacities ranging from 128 megabytes to 4 gigabytes, and in October for devices with more than 4 gigabytes of storage.
