OREANDA-NEWSAmerican company Apple may delay the release of its first iPhone 5G due to a new type of coronavirus pandemic that threatens global demand and disrupts the company's product development schedule. This is reported by the media with reference to several sources familiar with the plans of the corporation.

As noted by three sources, discussions were held within the company about a possible delay in launching the phone for several months. In turn, a source among suppliers said that practical obstacles could push the release of smartphones, originally scheduled for September this year, for longer periods. “In addition to supply chain restrictions, Apple is also concerned that the current situation will significantly reduce consumer appetite for updating their phones, which could lead to moderate demand for the first iPhone 5G”, one source said.

At the beginning of this year, the company set a goal to produce an iPhone with 5G, instructing suppliers to prepare for the production of up to 100 million units of new devices by 2020 and develop four versions of phones with a new feature, media sources say.
