OREANDA-NEWS. US President Joe Biden called India's position on Ukraine "somewhat shaky", Reuters reports, referring to the politician's speech at a meeting with national business representatives on Monday, March 21.

Biden stressed that all countries of the Quadripartite Security Dialogue (QUAD), namely the United States, Japan and Australia, have imposed sanctions on Russian companies, and India has not even condemned Russia. He added that Moscow is the largest supplier of military equipment to New Delhi.

“We acted as a united front in NATO and in the Pacific region,” the American president said.

He noted that “in QUAD, with the possible exception of India, whose position is somewhat shaky, Japan and Australia performed very strongly in regard to” the Russian military special operation in Ukraine.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Indian oil refiners are going to conclude lucrative contracts with Russia for the supply of Urals oil.
Indian oil refiners are interested in buying Russian Urals oil, despite criticism, the agency noted.

According to Bloomberg, Indian refiners are buying up Russian Urals oil after it plummeted in price. In particular, companies such as Mangalore Refinery and Bharat Petroleum Corp., as well as Petrochemicals Ltd. intend to buy Urals oil from Russia with deliveries in May and June 2022.

The publication indicated that the state-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corp. previously purchased 2 million barrels of this grade of oil for delivery in June.

Market experts shared that other Indian oil companies are also interested in oil supplies from Russia.
