OREANDA-NEWS. From 1 January 2020 all Russian TV channels will have to provide access to transmitted information to people with disabilities hearing. The law affects all channels regardless of the broadcast medium and subject matter.

Roskomnadzor stated, the minimum volume of the television adapted for people with hearing impairments shall be not less than 5% of the total volume of information provided by the channel in a week. Appropriate changes were made to the Federal law "On mass media".

To ensure accessibility, TV channels offer various ways to adapt content - subtitling, including hidden, translation into Russian sign language, ticker or other methods agreed with the public organization of people with hearing disabilities.  In this case, the channel can use only one of the proposed methods - to choose from.
