OREANDA-NEWS.  Russia will seek to have the issue of banning the German channel RT considered by authorized European bodies, including the OSCE and the Council of Europe, Council of Europe deputy speaker Konstantin Kosachev said.

"Western media have lost their competitiveness,"- the parliamentarian said on the Russia-24 TV channel. Kosachev added that they are used to acting in their mainstream, therefore they can no longer compete with alternative viewpoints, so such "purely administrative, non-market measures" are engaged.

The senator stressed that RT is a "high-quality media product" that poses a danger to the long-running campaign to brainwash Western ordinary people. Kosachev called the position on RT "unlawful".

The politician believes that such a situation should be dealt with by authorised international bodies, including European ones - the OSCE and the Council of Europe. "We will seek such consideration,"- he concluded.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow would react to Berlin forcing the European satellite operator to exclude the RT DE TV channel from broadcasting. For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov did not rule out that Russia would be forced to respond to the refusal to broadcast RT DE in Germany.
