OREANDA-NEWS. Twitter has blocked about 100 accounts allegedly linked to Russian government agencies. The social network announced this in a special statement on Tuesday, February 23.

The blocked Russian accounts, as follows from the statement, are divided into two groups. The first group of 69 fake accounts linked to Russian state institutions spread the Russian official point of view, and also «undermined faith in NATO and the stability of the alliance».

The second group of 31 accounts is allegedly linked to the Internet Research Agency — the «Olginsky Troll factory». These accounts waged an information war against Europe and the United States.

In total, on Tuesday, Twitter announced the blocking of 373 accounts associated with Russia, Armenia and Iran. In particular, 35 accounts linked to the Armenian government and spreading negative information about Azerbaijan were blocked.

On February 13, Twitter temporarily blocked the account of the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks on military security and arms control. Access to the account was closed, the ban was accompanied by a standard entry: "Twitter suspends (action - Ed.) accounts that violate the rules of Twitter."
