OREANDA-NEWS. In the first half of 2020, Russian IT company Yandex received more than 15 thousand requests for disclosure of user data from government authorities. In most cases, they were satisfied, the number of refusals is 2,468. The authorities not only of Russia, but also other countries where Yandex operates are meant.

“In response to a request, the company provides exactly as much information as necessary for a response. And if the request does not comply with the requirements of the law, Yandex rejects it. Requests received through unofficial channels, for example, by e-mail or by phone, do not receive a response and are not taken into account in statistics,” the company’s representative explained.

Yandex noted that the laws of the countries in which the company operates allow government agencies to request user data. In Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Investigative Committee, the prosecutor’s offices, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Federal Customs Service, the courts and some other bodies have the right to do this.
