OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he does not yet know a “subject” in Europe that could put pressure on Russia. He announced this at a briefing after talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, TASS reports.

“The fact that he [Putin - ed.] feels that he is not the subject of an escalation and that it was just pressure, then today I am not familiar with a subject in Europe that could put pressure on the Russian Federation very powerfully. At a minimum, the de-occupation of our country is not happening yet,” he said.

Earlier, Macron said that during his meetings with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, he received assurances of the commitment of both states to the so-called Minsk agreements.

According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised not to provoke an escalation of the situation in Ukraine. Macron also stressed that negotiations with the heads of the two countries made it possible to achieve progress in ensuring security in the region.

Macron's meeting with Putin took place the day before, February 7, and lasted more than five hours. The leaders of the two countries spent part of the conversation at a working lunch, during which the Russian president treated Macron to sturgeon, venison and pear pie. Following the talks, a press conference was held, after which the parties spoke for about 20 minutes.
