OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian Foundation for Cultural Solidarity has asked the producers of the Eurovision Song Contest to allow Belarusian artists to take part in the international song contest, which will be held in the Netherlands in 2021, as «musical guests». This is stated in the message of the foundation, published on Tuesday, April 6, in its Telegram channel.

«We suggested that (the groups. - Ed.) «NaviBand» and «VAL», who are already well-known in the Eurovision family, performed together with opera singer Margarita Levchuk in one of the intermissions», said the head of the foundation Sergey Budkin. It is specified, that the artists could perform a song called «Love Shine a Light», with which the UK won the competition in 1997.

Initially, Minsk planned to send the group «Galasy ZMesta» to the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, whose members do not hide their sympathy for the regime of Alexander Lukashenko, but the European Broadcasting Union eventually did not allow their song «I will teach you» to participate. This decision was justified by the fact that the performance of the group «Galasy ZMesta», according to the organizers, violates the rules of «Eurovision», suggesting non-political performances, and may damage the reputation of the contest.

This was Belteleradiocompany's second bid to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The first application was rejected by the European Broadcasting Union for a similar reason.
