This statement was made after the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko expressed surprise at the content of Manizhi's song, representing Russia at Eurovision-2021, and instructed to request information from Channel One on how the procedure for choosing an artist from the country for a prestigious international competition is going on.

"The song for Eurovision was chosen by the audience vote. Ernst & Young watched the voting process, which confirmed the compliance of the voting process and the counting of votes with the selection rules. Of course, at the request of the Federation Council, we are ready to provide data on this vote," the press service said.

Manizha (Manizha Sangin) is a Russian singer originally from Tajikistan, who gained fame after publishing music videos on social networks. In December 2020, the singer became the first UN Goodwill Ambassador for Refugees from Russia. At the Eurovision Song Contest she will perform with the song Russian women.

The video of the singer Manizhi for the song Russian women, with which she will represent Russia at Eurovision-2021, has gained more than 4.5 million views on the official YouTube channel of the competition, becoming the second most popular, according to the video hosting data.
