OREANDA-NEWS. Korean film director, Cannes, Venice and Berlin film festival laureate Kim Ki-duk died in Latvia from coronavirus infection at the age of 60. This was reported on December 11 by the portal Delfi.

According to the publication, referring to Russian film director Vitaly Mansky, Kim Ki-duk arrived in Latvia on November 20. Since December 5, he has not been in touch. On the night of December 11, he died in hospital from complications connected to coronavirus disease, the message clarifies.

As Delfi adds, according to unofficial information, Kim Ki-duk intended to purchase a house in the city of Jurmala and obtain a residence permit, but he did not come to the scheduled meeting. After that, his colleagues started searching him in hospitals. It is noted that due to the rules for the protection of personal data, the search was difficult.
