«It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Patrick Demarchelier on March 31, 2022 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Mia, three sons — Gustav, Arthur, Victor — and three grandchildren», the report says. The circumstances and causes of death have not been named.

Patrick Demarchelier was born on August 21, 1943 in the French city of Le Havre and began his career as a photographer in the 1960s, first working part-time in photo workshops, and then helping as an assistant to fashion photographer Hans Feuer. In 1975, he moved from France to the USA. He collaborated with magazines such as Elle, Marie Claire and Glamour, GQ, Rolling Stone, worked for a long time in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and was engaged in shooting advertising campaigns of Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and many others.

In 1989, the Frenchman became the personal photographer of Princess Diana and created a series of her portraits. In 1995, he released his first photo album, Patrick Demarchelier: Photographs. And in 2005 and 2008, Demarchelier worked on the Pirelli calendar.
