OREANDA-NEWS  Actor Gerard Depardieu, who arrived in Novosibirsk to work on cultural and business projects, received a residence permit in the Leninsky district of the city. Depardieu will not live in Siberia, but plans to visit it regularly, said the representative of Depardieu and his business partner Julia Mosman on Monday.

In February 2013, after receiving Russian citizenship, Gerard Depardieu registered in the capital of Mordovia Saransk. The actor left France in 2012 due to the government's decision to sharply raise the tax for wealthy citizens to 75%.

"Gerard really got a Novosibirsk residence in the Leninsky district of the city," said Mosman. "Gerard is interested in cooperation with regional producers of Siberia and the Far East, and also intends to regularly visit Siberia, wants to see different cities," she added.

Mosman explained that the change of registration of the actor is associated with the development of joint cultural and business projects with the region. In particular, Depardieu plans to engage in a series of documentaries about Russia, dedicated to various regions and cities of the country. In addition, Depardieu plans to launch a business related to food.

The representative of Depardieu added that the actor will be in the Siberian city for four days. During this time he will visit the main sights of Novosibirsk and get acquainted with the Governor. According to press Secretary of the Ministry of culture of the Novosibirsk region Anna Lobanova, Depardieu on Monday visited the Novosibirsk Opera and ballet theatre, where he met with representatives of the regional Ministry of culture.

Leninsky district of Novosibirsk is the third largest and most populated among 10 districts of the city. It is located on the left Bank of the Ob River, the population is about 300 thousand people.
