OREANDA-NEWS The exhibition “Earth on end. From the history of Russian theatrical expressionism” will open on July 10 at 17:00 in the Museum of Theatrical and Musical Arts on Fontanka Embankment, 34. Visitors will be able to trace the history of Russian theatrical expressionism in Petrograd-Leningrad from its inception to its disappearance in the mid-1930s.

Sketches of scenery, photographs, costumes, models, puppets and documents that preserved the memory of this bright and tragic current in the art of the 20th century will be presented in the Sheremetev Palace.

The title of the exhibition refers to the play by Vsevolod Meyerhold, based on the play of the same name by the playwright Sergei Tretyakov, who remade the expressionist drama by Marcel Martine “Night”.
