Emir Kusturica, a Serbian film director and musician, winner of awards at Europe’s largest film festivals, plans to make a film based on his future novel, based on the story of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. 

“I plan to make a film in Russia based on the book“ Crime and Punishment ”of Dostoevsky, but a new, rethought version. Now I am writing a book based on the plot of his novel and already on the basis of my book I want to make a film. In our version, the old moneymaker killed the main character [Rodion Raskolnikov], and not vice versa ", - he told reporters 

Kusturica clarified that he does not plan to act in the future film.
