OREANDA-NEWS The British rock band Pink Floyd released the first song since 1994, Hey Hey Rise Up — it uses the vocals of a member of the Ukrainian group Boombox Andrey Khlyvnyuk. The video on which the musicians perform the song was published on the official YouTube channel of the band on April 8.

The title of the song Hey Hey Rise Up is an English translation of the lines from the chorus of the Ukrainian folk song Chervona Kalina, written during the First World War. A member of the Ukrainian group Boombox performed it on Sofia Square in Kiev, and Pink Floyd used a fragment of the recording of the performance in a new composition. «It was a powerful performance that we wanted to put on our music», the Pink Floyd members told CNN Entertainment.

The Hey Hey Rise Up video is not available for viewing by users from Russia. According to CNN Entertainment, all proceeds from streaming the song will go to humanitarian aid to residents of Ukraine. The song is performed by guitarist David Gilmore and drummer Nick Mason, and bassist Guy Pratt and Nitin Sony play keyboards. The initiator of writing Hey Hey Rise Up, as CNN notes, was David Gilmore, who has relatives with Ukrainian roots.

Hey Hey Rise Up is the band's first original song in 28 years. The cover of the single depicts a sunflower — one of the national symbols of Ukraine, painted by Cuban artist Yosan Leon. In 2014, Pink Floyd released the instrumental album The Endless River, which mainly included studio recordings of old tracks.
