OREANDA-NEWS. The Nobel Peace Prize is politicized, it should be abandoned, says Sergei Tsekov, a member of the international committee of the Federation Council.

The Nobel Committee (Peace Prize) received 329 nominations. Among the nominees are ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and Russian blogger Alexei Navalny, Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg and former US President Donald Trump.

Sergei Tsekov noted: "The Peace Prize has long been raising big questions, since this prize is not for successes in achieving peace, but for a biased, subjective attitude towards specific politicians."

According to the senator, the Peace Prize is distinguished by "extreme politicization, a subjective approach in accordance with the current international situation."

In addition, the politician drew attention to the practice of double standards when nominating nominees.

"In the United States and Europe, you can recruit more than one hundred people, such as Tikhanovskaya and Navalny. But there they are violators of the law, and here they are presented as" freedom fighters, "he stressed. Tsekov also recalled that the Peace Prize was also awarded to presidents who later unleashed wars. In particular, this was the story with Barack Obama.
