OREANDA-NEWS  London singer Adele has been named the UK's best-selling singer of the century. Information is reported by the NME agency.

The artist topped the British Phonogram Industry Association (BPI) chart and surpassed such stars as Pink, Rihanna, Madonna, Daido and Amy Winehouse. Her second album "21" is also considered the most successful female album in the last 20 years. Over six million copies of this release have been sold in the country.

Last year, a list of the most popular songs of the decade was released. The rating was calculated taking into account how often this or that composition sounded on British radio and television. Adele and her song "Rolling In The Deep" took second place, behind only the track "Happy" by Farrell Williams.

Adele is the recipient of the Grammy Awards, Brit Awards, American Music Awards and Oscars for the soundtrack to the James Bond film "007: Coordinates of Skyfall". In 2014, the singer's achievements were noted at the state level: she was awarded the Order of the British Empire for her contribution to the development of culture and art. At the end of 2018, the pop star announced that she had decided not to perform any more concerts.
