Marvin Lee Edey (musician's real name) was born in Dallas. Then he moved to Los Angeles and worked for a while as a bouncer in a nightclub. At school, the prefix «Loaf» was added to this nickname. The breakthrough in the musical activity of Meat Loaf came in 1977, when his album Bat Out of Hell, written jointly with songwriter Jim Steinman, was released.
